Media Statement

The Saudi Arabian Anti-Doping Committee (SAADC) would like to clarify to all affiliates of the sport community about what has been included in the TV statement of Mr. Abdullah Mutlaq Al-Enizi ( Alnasr Football Club player), within the context of Sada Al Malaeb TV Show of MBC1 broadcasted in the evening of Wednesday 20th Shawal 1436 H. corresponding to 6 August 2015, and which we quoted: ( He was using analgesic ampoules before his participation in the last 9 or 10 matches of the last season with the help of someone who was closed to the player, without informing the medical or administrative staff of the club).

Based on the jurisdictions invested in SAADC as per Article 1: APPLICATION OF ANTI-DOPING RULES, and Article 5: TESTING AND INVESTIGATIONS, and Article 17: STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS of the Saudi Anti-Doping Rules in Sport, and after reviewing all the related documents and reports, it was apparent that the said analgesic ampoules were just Voltaren ampoules, which are not prohibited according to the WADA List of Prohibited Substances and Methods. Such drug is given to many athletes. By going back to his previous Doping Control it was confirmed that the player used this drug. Besides, it was registered officially in the List of Used Medications Form for each team, and which must be submitted by the Team’s physician prior to the match that was included within the national doping control program. In addition, the player / Abdullah Al-Enizi, since 2013, is listed in the Registered Testing Pool, which is recognized and applied internationally.

SAADC calls upon all athletes not to use any medications without consulting the Athlete Support Personnel, or contacting SAADC for any inquiries. Athletes should be aware of the procedures related to the TUE application – if needed – through SAADC’s website: www.saadc.com

Wishing that Allah may protect all of our athletes from the dangers of doping to participate in doping-free and true competitions.

May Allah grant you all the success
